Fatal Flaws of Faith

For those of you who don’t know, I love studying religion and spirituality. I find the different perspectives and ideologies fascinating. That being said, ever since I have begun independent thought for or against my Christian upbringing, I have found maintaining faith in spirituality problematic.

When I research a religion, I don’t reach for Cole’s Notes. I pursue as many, biased and unbiased, information sources as I can to get a feel for the spiritual tradition from the perspective of outsiders and insiders. Perhaps this is my mistake, because the reason that I have failed to faithfully uphold any popular religion is because I have found each to possess a fatal flaw, a core aspect in the belief system with which I disagree so strongly, I cannot call myself a follower. Listed below is a brief synopsis on my take on MOST popular world religions, and why I (sometimes with great hesitation) have chosen to reject them to date. (more…)

I am slowly going Apple: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, switch

Once again I have found myself slowly slipping away from the paradigms of my youth. As a basement computer junkie, I naturally cared none for aesthetics; those who have seen my wardrobe know, in some facets, I still do. But as I grow older, I have naturally evolved into a sucker for chic design. Maybe it’s the gradual engraining of North American Capitalism in my neuro-fiber; maybe it’s an increased awareness that most people are born with (it’s true, how something looks does affect its impact); maybe it’s the continuing improvements in the marketing industry. Whatever it is, over the past couple of years, I’ve come to realize that things are nicer to have when they’re nicer to look at. It’s true, pretty is good, and Apple products are not only pretty, they are dead sexy. (more…)
